BOLD Youth Group is a place where students can grow in their faith, build healthy friendships, have fun, and learn more about Jesus. To help create a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment, every student is expected to follow this Code of Conduct.
-
Show Respect
Students must treat leaders, volunteers, guests, and other students with kindness and respect. This includes:
- Listening when someone else is speaking
- Following instructions from youth leaders
- Using appropriate and encouraging language
- Respecting personal space, belongings, and boundaries
Bullying, teasing, gossip, threats, or harassment will not be tolerated.
-
Participate With a Good Attitude
Students are encouraged to participate in lessons, worship, games, discussions, service projects, and group activities. Students should avoid intentionally distracting others, interrupting activities, or preventing others from participating.
-
Use Appropriate Language and Behavior
Profanity, inappropriate jokes, sexual comments, hateful language, threats, and disrespectful gestures are not permitted. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects Christian character both in person and online.
-
Follow Phone and Technology Rules
Phones and electronic devices should not distract from lessons, worship, prayer, or group activities. Youth leaders may ask students to put their phones away during certain activities.
-
Respect Church Property
Students must take care of the church building, furniture, equipment, vehicles, and activity supplies. Intentional damage, theft, vandalism, or misuse of property may result in the student or parent being responsible for repair or replacement costs.
-
Stay in Approved Areas
Students must remain with the group and stay in areas approved by youth leaders. Students may not leave the church property, event location, vehicle, or group activity without permission from a leader and their parent or guardian.
-
Dress Appropriately
Students should wear clothing that is suitable for the activity and respectful of the church environment. Clothing with offensive, inappropriate, hateful, violent, or drug- or alcohol-related messages is not permitted.
For swimming or water activities, students must wear appropriate and modest swimwear. Students should also bring and wear a suitable cover-up, shirt, shorts, or other covering when they are not actively participating in the water activity. Youth leaders may ask a student to change or add an appropriate covering if their swimwear does not meet these expectations.
-
Practice Honesty and Responsibility
Students are expected to be honest with leaders and take responsibility for their choices. Students should report unsafe behavior, bullying, threats, damaged property, or other serious concerns to a trusted youth leader immediately.
Discipline Process
When a student does not follow the Code of Conduct, youth leaders may take the following steps depending on the seriousness or frequency of the behavior:
- Verbal reminder or redirection
- Private conversation with youth leaders
- Temporary removal from an activity
- Contact with a parent or guardian
- Early pickup from the event
- Temporary suspension from youth activities
- Meeting with the student, parent or guardian, and church leadership
Serious behavior may result in immediate parent contact, removal from the event, or suspension without following every step listed above.
The goal is correction, restoration, accountability, and the safety of everyone involved.
